This is our Kindergarten

St Mel's Kindergarten was established by the Daughters of Devine Zeal. An order of nuns who were ahead of their time as they catered for the needs of our youngest citizens - i bambini.

St. Mel's Kindergarten has been in operation since 1969. In 2001 the Kindergarten moved to a newly refurbished building and has a lovely new playground area. In 2012 St Mel's was awarded a grant from the Victorian Government to refurbish the kindergarten buildings. These refurbishments have allowed us to offer two 15 hour Four Year Old Kindergarten groups and two Three Year Old Kindergarten groups.

Kindergarten sessions for four-year-olds are for 15 hours per week, spread over the following times:

Red Group 

• Monday and Tuesday 9 am – 3 pm, Wednesday 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 am

Yellow Group 

• Wednesday 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm, Thursday and Friday 9 am – 3 pm

Three-year-old Kindergarten sessions are 5 hours per week during the following times:

• Orange Group Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• Purple Group Friday 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Catholic Children who attend St. Mel's Kindergarten have first preference to Foundation (Prep) places at St. Mel's School.
